Franklin Elementary School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their Little Free Library, a free book exchange for Franklin families and surrounding neighbors.

Construction of the library was made possible by a donation from the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) Wausau Chapter. DAR enlisted John Roseth, a retired, local pastor, to construct the library. When DAR Secretary, Donna Lipton, and DAR Treasurer, Mary Ehlers, contacted Pastor Roseth about the project, they did not know that Roseth's wife, Darlene, retired from Franklin Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher in 2005. The fortuitous connection made the Little Free Library project even more special for all involved.

Teachers at Franklin and DAR members donated books for all ages so the library will be well stocked. Students at Franklin will refill the library each week to keep the circulation flowing.

The Library is registered on the national Little Free Library Register (littlefreelibrary.org) #79033.
